A skilled lip-reader, expressing 97% certainty, claims Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham directed a shocking insult at Mason Greenwood in their intense derby clash on Thursday night.
Greenwood and Bellingham, English players who switched clubs, concluded their first encounter of the season. Greenwood joined LaLiga’s Getafe in September, while Bellingham signed with Real Madrid in June.
The 22-year-old player opted for a mutual agreement to leave Manchester United on loan after an internal investigation into his conduct was concluded.
In January 2022, Greenwood faced charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior. However, these charges were dropped by the CPS in February 2023 due to the withdrawal of key witnesses.
During Thursday’s clash, Bellingham executed a robust tackle on Getafe, sending the ball out of play. When footage of the incident surfaced on social media, fans speculated that they observed the England international uttering the word ‘rapist’ at the forward.
In his analysis of the clip, forensic lip-reader Jeremy Freeman, an expert witness, exclusively informed Mail Sport: ‘After meticulously examining the footage, I am 97% confident that the spoken word is “rapist,” especially when taking into account the context in which it was used.
‘The visual cues of the lips indicate the presence of the ‘R’ and ‘P’ sounds, and the word appears to end sharply.
‘Additionally, the speaker seems to have a pronounced Brummie accent, which I factored into my interpretation,’ Freeman added.
‘Given the clarity of these visual markers and the absence of any viable alternative interpretation, I am quite certain of this conclusion.’
In the aftermath of the clip’s circulation on social media, Getafe have decided to take action, asking the game’s referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea to record the alleged insult in his match report.
Doing so could yet subject Bellingham to a disciplinary procedure from the Spanish football federation (RFEF), although without audio, it could be a hard case to prove.
Getafe have also reported the incident to the LaLiga deligate present at Estadio Coliseum to record the alleged insult, although the club has not levelled a formal complaint at Bellingham.
The Los Blancos rising talent played a crucial role for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, securing a 2-0 victory in the derby with former Newcastle striker Joselu scoring a brace. This triumph catapulted the team back to the summit of LaLiga, holding a two-point lead over the surprising Girona.
Greenwood, in his home side’s colors, played the entire 90 minutes but couldn’t replicate the impact, managing only to hit the post with a shot at goal in the second half.
