Harry Kane, who’s 30 years old, scored two goals for Bayern Munich, helping them win 2-1 against RB Leipzig and breaking a three-game losing streak. This shows that Bayern Munich doesn’t give up easily and keeps going, no matter what.
This victory kept Bayern Munich eight points behind the top team, Bayer Leverkusen, with 11 games left to play. Earlier, Xabi Alonso’s team also won by the same scoreline against Mainz on Friday night.
Despite Bayern Munich’s impressive 11 consecutive league titles, they face a real threat of experiencing their first season without a title since 2012.
On Wednesday, Bayern revealed that coach Thomas Tuchel will depart at the end of the season, marking a significant decision following the team’s uncommon three consecutive losses – the first time this has happened since 2015.
With England coach Gareth Southgate watching, Kane scored two more goals, bringing his total to 27 goals in 23 league games this season since joining from Tottenham in the summer. The Three Lions captain continues to impress on the field.
Despite a successful individual career spanning over a decade, Kane, who has yet to secure a team trophy, remains optimistic, stating to reporters, “there’s still a lot of football to be played.”
“We have to push Leverkusen. We need to keep doing what we’re doing.
“It was good to win this game and we need to go on a run until the end of the year.”
Kane’s recent struggle in games parallels Bayern’s less-than-ideal performance, marking an unusual dip in form for both.
Harry Kane had some missed opportunities in Bayern’s defeats to Lazio and Bochum, including two clear chances in the first half against Leipzig.
Tuchel, expressing his desire to continue at Bayern beyond the summer, reassured that he was “never worried about Harry” after the match.
“He’s been doing it for 14 years. He whacks in plenty of goals every season and that won’t change. It’s like mathematics.”
“Today he had a good mix between being focused and relaxed. We don’t need to worry about Harry.”
To advance beyond the Champions League last 16, Bayern must reverse a 1-0 deficit at home against Lazio in March.
Tuchel said “today felt a bit weird” to sit in the dugout again after the announcement was made but said the “performance was good (like) nothing had changed.”
Bayern captain Manuel Neuer, who made crucial saves, expressed that Tuchel’s departure “put the players in a bad light,” emphasizing that “every player should have a guilty conscience.”
