Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, 31, has successfully undergone back surgery, as announced by the LaLiga champions. This procedure followed his absence from Germany’s matches against Turkey and Austria last month and three subsequent Barca fixtures.
The club’s official statement on the surgery, posted on their website, states:
“First team player Marc ter Stegen has successfully undergone surgery for his lower back issues. The procedure was performed by Dr. Amelie Leglise under the supervision of the club’s medical services at Sports Clinic Bordeaux Merignac. He is currently in recovery, and his availability will be determined by his ongoing rehabilitation.”
Earlier, Barcelona had disclosed Ter Stegen’s impending surgery, prompting the goalkeeper to share on social media:
“After intensive discussions with the club’s medical team and various supporting experts, we decided to undergo a surgical procedure. The break obviously annoys me. It is the right and safe decision to come back in the best conditions for my club and national team.”
