Zirkzee’s Transfer Details
Although Zirkzee had a £33.6 million release clause in his Bologna contract, United agreed to a slightly higher fee to spread the payment over three years, complying with Profit and Sustainability Rules.
First Signing Under New Co-Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Zirkzee is the first signing for United since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner, purchasing a 27.7% stake in the club last December. The striker scored 12 goals in 37 appearances last season, helping Bologna secure a Champions League spot.

Zirkzee’s Career Path
Zirkzee joined Bayern Munich from Feyenoord in 2017 and moved to Bologna for £7.15 million after loan spells at Parma and Anderlecht. He was named in Ronald Koeman’s Euro 2024 squad but made only two substitute appearances for the Netherlands.
