Real Madrid drop points in LaLiga title race against Real Betis
Real Madrid aimed to extend their impressive form with a victory against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin. Despite their hopes, they settled for a 1-1 draw, creating an opportunity for Girona to reclaim the top spot in the La Liga table if they can secure a victory against Barcelona in the upcoming Catalan derby on Sunday.
The match in Seville was highly contested, with the hosts having the better chances in the first half. Ayoze Perez and Isco made threatening attempts, but Andriy Lunin, surprisingly maintaining his place in the lineup despite Kepa Arrizabalaga’s return, made crucial saves.

The first half ended goalless, but Real Madrid broke through after 53 minutes, with Jude Bellingham finding the back of the net and securing his 16th goal of the season in the process.
Despite Real Madrid’s breakthrough, they couldn’t maintain the lead for long as Betis secured a spectacular equalizer. Aitor Ruibal picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired an incredible strike past Lunin.
The match concluded without further goals, marking the second successive occasion Real Madrid has dropped points in Seville (following a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in October). Girona has the opportunity to claim the top spot with a win on Sunday, while a Barcelona victory would bring them within two points of their Clasico rivals.
