Manager Mikel Arteta remains keen on retaining England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal, despite the recent shift in the starting lineup that saw David Raya take over as the primary choice.
Raya, on loan from Brentford since the summer, has assumed the top spot, relegating Ramsdale to a backup role with limited game time. Despite speculations linking Ramsdale with a move to Newcastle, Arteta emphasizes his desire to keep the 25-year-old with the Gunners.

“I want Aaron with us,” Arteta affirmed. “We have two very, very good goalkeepers, and Aaron is staying with us. We aim to enhance our squad further, building on what we already possess.”
Having started every Premier League match in the previous season, Ramsdale initially began the current season as the first-choice goalkeeper. However, Raya’s selection for the Everton clash marked a change, leading to a more rotational role for Ramsdale.
With Newcastle reportedly monitoring the situation, especially after their goalkeeper Nick Pope’s injury, there is speculation about a potential January bid. Yet, Arteta refrains from guaranteeing Ramsdale’s stay or departure.
“I won’t categorically rule out an exit for Ramsdale in the upcoming transfer window,” Arteta stated. “I cannot assure that no player will leave in January, for Newcastle or any other club. It is uncertain, and I won’t make definitive statements.”
In conclusion, Arteta remains non-committal about the January transfer window, leaving room for possible developments, including Ramsdale’s future with Arsenal.
