Leroy Sane has subtly revealed his preferences regarding a potential move, dropping hints about the team he might choose between Manchester City and Liverpool.
According to reports, Jurgen Klopp has honed in on the Bayern Munich winger as his primary target to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

This development holds significant implications for Liverpool’s transfer aspirations, especially considering Sane’s earlier disclosure that he opted for a move to City over the Reds back in 2016.
Yes, I was also talking with them [Liverpool]. Jurgen was calling me too, talking to me. That was before I joined City,” Sane told the Guardian in 2018.
He did a good job at [Borussia] Dortmund – I met him when he was there. He’s a good guy, nice guy – honest. He [has] worked well with Liverpool.”
That being said, Sane may be less resistant to returning to the Etihad following his comments upon leaving the club in 2020.
Explaining his decision to join Bayern he told Bild (quotes via the Manchester Evening News): “Of course I want to play, but I don’t demand to start every match. No player in the world can play every match and reach his highest level. I have my goals, but I’m zero-point-zero percent against rotation.
However, Pep Guardiola has gained notoriety for his unpredictable squad rotations, leaving fans in anticipation of his next strategic move. Notably, he made headlines last season by deploying Bernardo Silva as a left-back.
In the triumphant 2022/23 treble-winning campaign, Guardiola made a staggering 45 changes to his starting XI, surpassing their closest title rivals, Arsenal, by 31 changes, as per the Premier League website.
Given Sane’s explicit stance on squad rotation, his potential return to Manchester City might be met with second thoughts.
Conversely, a move to Liverpool could offer Sane a more assured position on the right flank, particularly if Mohamed Salah were to depart. This presents an intriguing contrast in the stability of playing time between the two Premier League giants.
